How much do we spend Overthinking?

We all, from my previous post, learnt that we can't stop overthinking, but definitely control it. The first step towards is to not analyse why we started overthinking initially. Out of all the steps to keep our overthinking in check, this step is the most crucial and critical one. Now that we have learnt to reduce asking ourselves that very question, let us try to understand and relate to the next step.
I would want you all to stop reading for some time and think back to the times of overthinking. No, I am not asking you to overthink. I am just asking you to transport yourself to that point, and analyze the total time you spent on overthinking.

I am sure most of us would tell not much. But, the fact is we lose track of time when we overthink. When we look back we realize the amount of time we spent of just thinking, we could have efficiently spent on actually working on our ideas. So, the next step to control overthinking is Recognition of thoughts

The quote by A.P.J Abdul Kalam, motivates us to follow the dream and work towards it. Over-thinkers, its time we start acting on our ideas rather than just, you know, overthink!
Most of us don't realize when we are overthinking and when we are just thinking. Start recognizing the thoughts which constitute as overthinking,such as, when your thoughts are in a spiral and you end up at the same point, that's overthinking for you. At this stage you tend to think of multiple things but not do anything to make it come true. Let me give you an example. Suppose you want to start a blog. You start researching the various sites which help publish a blog and finally narrow it down to one such site. Just when you are about to pen your thoughts, your mind stops you. You start thinking on who will read the blog? Who will actually share it? Will it be good? Will someone troll me? What should I do? And finally you end up just thinking about starting a blog but not actually doing it. That's what overthinking does to us. If we cannot control our minds and be aware, who can do it?
So, always try not to cross that line between overthinking and thinking. Abandon those thoughts which make you overthink consciously. Start being mindful about the thoughts and not just mind full. When you start doing this, over a period of time you will realize the change. Over time, unconsciously, as in without your notice, you will start differentiating between thinking and overthinking. This will help you to start working towards your goals rather than just thinking about it.
Sleepless nights? Quick tip!
The most common time when any one of us overthinks is during our sleep, we can feel and hear the voices in our head shouting different topics. At this point you will feel so frustrated, you will feel a void and low on energy. When this happens, start clapping your hands, start moving your fingers, say a tongue twister, listen to music without lyrics, do anything but think. By the time you do any one thing, you will feel recharged and you wouldn't have lost all the time and all your sleep. This is one quick tip for all those who are sleepless due to overthinking.
